linking problem

i link the swivle angel of the knees of lowmax the new one to the pelvic controler then i go to link info and remove inherit rotation but still when ever i rotate the pelvic they rotate with it
can some help please i want to finish the animation part on my vfx water entry thanks!!1 -
30 Sep 2006I think we may need some more info Mahmoud - what are you trying to do? You may need to describe exactly why you are linking the swivel angle and also what you expect to happen when you do this... then describe the problem. That way it will be much easier for us to help.

mahmoudnahmad 1,159 posts30 Sep 2006well i hate the swivle angel since while i am animating if i forget to move them forward away from the character they mess my animation so what i am trying to do is link them to the pelvic controler of lowmax so that as he moves forward they move with it but when i rotate the pelivc i dont want them to turn with it cause that will mess my legs again

01 Oct 2006Aah I think I know what you mean. The swivel angle thing you are talking about is an object that the knee points to (I've not used LowMax for a long time...) How about linking it to the foot controller not the pelvis?

01 Oct 2006Well... there are others on this forum.
I don't see that having them move up and down as a major problem, since it's the sideways movement that affects where the knee is pointed - it's where I'd link knee targets if I had them.
Actually, if I remember right you can limit different axies that the child inherits (so you can switch off vertical movement... It's been long time away from Max, but you'll find it in the hierachy tab) -

mahmoudnahmad 1,159 posts02 Oct 2006thanks alot guys and i figured this stupid solution for now tell i get the time to probably re rig lowmax cause his ik seem to have a problem too
what i did is change the swivel to targeting ik this way i get it to swivel toward the foot which is similar to what global suggested and if i ned to change the swivel i simply use manipultor controllers
