Lighting + Shading Workshop [May 16 - June 16]

Hey guys,
So we're going to start a new lighting and shading workshop. The purpose of this workshop is for participants to challenge themselves with regards to their artistic abilities, and to also receive comments and critique from the community as they post their progress.
So, how does this work? Well first off, download the subway entrance model by ecleposs .
Then, load it into your 3d app of choice and begin applying textures, shaders, and lights. The camera position for the scene is also up to you.
As you make progress, be sure to post it here so others can view it and give you feedback.
You may also do any post-work you feel is necessary, that includes color correction, the addition of glow or DOF, etc.
The goal of this workshop is to go from a raw model to a stunning image within 1 month.
Each person participating should post their progress in their own thread. So, to start, create a thread in this subforum and title it:
Lighting and Shading: [your name]

is this gonna be the only lighting and shading challenge in the workshop forum? ... I mean ... we will make a lot of threads entitled "Lighting and Shading" with our names
what if there will be another lighting workshop on the future ? ... will you name it the same.. then, the forum will get full of the same titles
so, I suggest making it "L&SH - Subway Entrance : your name " .... just my thoughts

22 May 2010Clarification: Are we suppose to be adding geometry for background elements or anything like that? Or should we stick just to what's with this file?

22 May 2010The focus should be the provided geometry, but I don't see a problem with adding some custom background elements.

23 May 2010Hmm....not sure what happened.
I cleaned out a bunch of spam accounts last night. Maybe there's a bug in the admin panel that accidentally deleted a few legit posts at the same time.
I'll look into it, in the mean time...sorry for the inconvenience, I guess I'll refrain from using the user approval mod until we figure out what's going on. -
