29 May 2006so after weeks of browsing around cgtalk admiring the amazing 2d artwork, i decided to really try to improve my 2d painting skills before i ever post again in a public forum. here's the first i'm happy with.
done entirely in ArtRage, with the border added in PS. -

Some nice shading/highlight work going on there.
My only main critique would be that his arms look like the elbows are on the front. I'd suggest maybe having his arms slightly bend inward a bit to help with that.

g3org3 355 posts30 May 2006I agree with Tyson. Also maybe add a weapon that he is leaning on. Like a staff or a long sword. Other than that it looks really good. -

i got a question for you... would you let me draw over this and help you out with the proportions?? is that ok with you? i see problems in his arms mostly... i think i could describe it best with a drawing -

keep up the work. I think the dark shading on the red cloth compared to the brown looks good, so perhaps darken the shade for the brown cloth in areas? -
