Kieran 57 posts31 Mar 2011Put together this short clip with Max and AE mostly. It's essentially my first match-moving project using some of the first footage I shot with my 7D. I hope that doesn't show too strongly. I'll probably do one more revision before I call this project "finished" so I would love any critiques or suggestions to incorporate into the final version. Right now, I don't plan on doing too much more, mainly fixing the splashing water (see it? probably not, it's too damn subtle) and the water beads on the foreground fish (opposite problem, completely unsubtle
). I'll tighten up the edit as well.
Would appreciate your crits.

triplej96 181 posts01 Apr 2011Very nice, Kieran. The only thing missing is some reactive debri from where the fish land. Like some rocks, dirt and leaves moving around and/or getting kicked up in the air.

I agree with Josh about the debris. I think if you made motion blur a little stronger you'd get more realistic results. Did you plan on adding some fish in that 3rd shot too? I think it would work better if you had fish scattered in the sand in that last shot, otherwise it seem a bit odd. -

Kieran 57 posts05 Apr 2011Thanks for the comments, I've taken them to mind in the update, which has replaced the original on Vimeo. I agree that the last shot looks weird without fish in it so I've basically decided to remove it. I originally wanted to have a single fish twitching in the sand with frantic eyes. However, I like fish and animating this would be a little depressing/sadistic. I'm not too sad about skipping it.
