13 Sep 2010I've not studied any car explosions but as a viewer it's distracting to me that the explosion happens before I see any flames. If you could have the flames emerge like 3-5 frames earlier I think it would read better. It's probably one of those things where, in real life this is what happens, but every car explosion I've seen in the movies it's not real, because it's more exciting maybe...I don't know haha.
Sick flames though, you're definitely getting good at Fume bro. -

Looks nice, but I have to agree with JayG about the synchronization of the flames.
As far as i can see explosion starts at frame 59-60 a couple of frames a bright flash, then there's a frame where the car is already in the air and the ground is very nicely lit but there is no flame source for it. I think that's where we should see the fire start. I'm not an expert, just saying.
BTW, love the smoke/dust ring effect

28 Sep 2010I still think your sound is 5-6 frames too early. With the speed of sound being slower than that of light it makes sense it would be slightly after the explosion.

24 Oct 2010it does look MUCH better than the first one.... since you hear a sound like a rocket or something it feels better that the explosion is a bit more epic...
just a question about ur sim though... are you using wavelet? for me i kinda find it irritating to simulate again.... dont feel its worth it... and i dont feel much of a difference... but maybe its just me. -

feel the same way you do. I think if I had like 16 cores and 80 gigs of ram I would use more.haha
