Maya Camera To After Effects

06 Feb 2007This time I made a tutorial on how to export a camera from Maya out to After effects. I think this is just one more reason that After Effects is a great and understated program for compositing work. This is just one of many features that everyone seems to be surprised when I show it to them. So I figured I needed to be one more person to make this info available. So here it is, download following screencaps:

08 Feb 2007watched it last night while I ate dinner, great one, zach! i'm gonna have to try it out in Max. I find it very interesting watching Maya. that big list on the left of the viewports that holds every single thing in the scene always seems so confusing to me. it'd be like having open the selection dialogue box in Max all the time, which would drive me nuts!
I have to get Camtasia one of these days...

02 Mar 2007It was cool but to be honest..
..you should make a tutorial all the way thru without half of it trying to find your own mistake. I was totally bored with it I had to fast forward it.
I usually mention what mistakes can be made or give a small example.. not make a tutorial and spend half of it finding the mistake you did yourself.
Good subject tho.

I have a question, how do i export RLA/RPF with camera data, depth etc files from maya to be used in After Effects or Combustion. I've to use the 3D FOG but it says not depth avaliable whe the effect its aplied.
I will be really thankfull. Thanks -

Shany 24 posts19 Oct 2008Whats with adobe giving rpf support and no Maya obj support! Maya us heavuly used for movies/commercials..etc, its just plain simple to add a camera support for it in the first time..
Those Adobe coders...!@@#!!!
