top banner test for my website.

Now i'm working to complete our group website. Here is a test for top banner. let me know what you think about it. all of your crits and ideas are well appreciated.

Here are some comments:
1) Your yellow text is kind of hard to read. It's probably because the colors of the logo are so blown out and contrasty. I'd also suggest keeping the text level (not rotated). ...and it's hard to tell what the crack in the wall on the right is at first.
2) The music/sound is something you're going to want to take out. Many people (including myself.....and especially most industry professionals who are browsing artists' website to find someone to hire) find music/sound effects REALLY aggravating while browsing a site.
Overall...keep it simple
......right now it's too busy in my opinion, and the sounds are distracting. -

I agree with you about the logo text. at first it was worse. however I am working on it.
and about sound. At first my idea was to make a game like environment. so I added the sounds. but there are distracting to me, too. Did you mean that I remove all of sounds or for example remove the dialogues.

03 Sep 2006Well personally I would remove *all* of the sounds (both music/voices and mouseover sounds for the buttons)......but maybe if you REALLY want the button sound you could keep it.....but just turn it down a bit and make them a little more ambient. Right now they're really sharp sounds and it's distracting.

Much better without the distracting sounds....
Here are my gripes
1) The shadow behind the yellow text makes the yellow text, once again, hard to read (not in the sense that you can't see the letter or read them...but just in the sense that it's not compositionally pleasing)
2) The thing on the right hand side is still way too bright. I'd suggest normalizing the contrast of it a bit more so that it's not limited to extremes (ie.....right now it's really dark on the left and really bright on the right and it doesn't look right)

mahmoudnahmad 1,159 posts03 Sep 2006i am not a web design kinda a guy but i think ur got what it takes to pull this one off but i always tell my self keep it simple and i think some times simplisity is the best way and come to think of it in this matter it does work cause its a site u dont want a heavy load time and i think u did mention before you only have a 56kb this will also make it eaiser on you to edit -
ALi 608 posts03 Sep 2006Yep i'm a 56k user mahmoud. but I should say that I difinately care about loading time and sure simplisity. first I didn't even wanted to use flash. however I thought a little use of flash may be cool. and also should say that the only part I am using flash is the top banner and other things will be html. the flash file size is now 80kb and I think it's good.
