CONTEST OUTLINE:

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to live inside a tiny box? Wondered what it would be like to have 6 cardboard walls encircle your entire existence? Ever wanted to animate such a thing?

WELL TOO BAD because that's not what this contest is about!!!

This contest is entitled "BLACK HOLE" and isn't nearly as dumb as the idea above.

Your challenge is to create an animation or video that includes some kind of black hole--sucking in everything around it. What could this be exactly?

1) You could create a VFX shot of a giant star being sucked into a black hole out in the deep reaches of space

2) You could animate a character opening a box with a black hole inside of it, and subsequently being sucked in

3) You could create some kind of abstract VFX shot depicting what it might look like if particles of light were sucked inside the vacuum of a black hole

4) You could animate some kind of wormhole that a character steps into (often times blackholes are imagined to be the entranceways to wormholes)

5) Pretty much anything that involves a massive sucking force or black hole (note: this line should not be interpreted as "a video that sucks massively")

GUIDELINES:

1) Your shot or shot(s) can be animated, filmed, hand-drawn or anything. As long as the final presentation is in video form. You can composite 3d onto live action, or do an entirely CG spot

2) You can make your video as long or short as you want

3) You can interpret the theme of "Black Hole" however you like, as long as there is some element in your animation/video that represents as "black hole" as described above.

4) Any threads made through the SimplyCG.net forum as entries to this challenge will be deleted.

Hey T was that your idea, cause men I just finish 3 weeks of planet,stars, galaxy animation for a video clip, and all that was missing was the black hole, but personaly I'm fed up of space for a while. But I can't wait to see what people will do on this one.

Just curious to know how people are finding this challenge so far. Any questions? Has anybody had a chance to start something for it?

There hasn't been as much participation so far compared to the last challenge, so I'm just curious how people are feeling about this one

i would love to participate, but i will be super busy untill early june...

I have a simple idea... but can't start for another week or so

i SUPER enjoyed having a week off, and wasn't sure for a while, thought i might sit one out, even though the topic is sweet!

but then, yesterday, my idea came BAMM!!! fully formed right into my head. I'm gonna try to shoot a plate today. If I do, I'm definitely in.

Would anybody like more time on this challenge? I feel like this month raced by. I would still like to enter, and I know that most people started late...so I wouldn't mind extending the challenge for another few weeks if anybody else is interested!
