Super Powers - VFX Challenge

OK Folks,

It's time to wrap up the old challenge and kick off with a new one using the new system.

Just a few notes first.

For now, there are no direct links from simplycg.net to the challenge site, so either use this page, remember the link, or use the plug at the top of the page to help you get there. Still working on the best way to integrate it.


As extensive as I have tested out the new system, I am not 100% sure all bugs are gone and all links are there, so if you come accross any dead links, or errors, or things not working as expected, or even just some suggestions to make it easier, friendlier and funner, let me know and i'll see what I can do.

With the new system, please upload your progress straight into your page, there's no need to host your files offsite, and I might have to remove some external links if they are added so in the future the amount of dead links are at a minimum.

I put the previous contest into the new system (Minus the uploads), so you can see what it 's like, the votes were tallied up, and a big congrats to Clayton for taking out the 1st place.

This challenge is all about Super Powers.

Your task is to create a 3d animation / VFX shot based around the theme of the main character or object having extraordinary abilities or powers and displaying them either in an action shot, or just a quick demonstration.

We will accept 2D, 3D live + comp entries for this challenge.

Deadline

Voting will start on the 28th of March, 2007

Guidelines

-Max frames: 700
-Pre-made rigs, pre-made models + plugins are allowed.
(If you are using a pre-made rig or model that is not your own, please credit the source in your thread)

The main idea of this challenge is to have fun and be expressive. We won't be too strict on the type of entries. As long as it has a super-power theme, you'll be all good.

I'm not signing up until I'm 100% sure I will make the deadline. I'm about to start shooting another short film. honestly, though, i think it would take something major to keep me from entering... like, um... death, maybe.

Well we can always extend it. As usual we're pretty lax about deadlines.

So I built that into the system, deadlines easily adjusted.

Wow I have seen this colour scheme a few times now. I have my max interface kind of like this. I made a website design for a project with the same colours. Richard has his website with the same colours, and now this.

I had no intentions of making it that colour, I just played round with the colour swatchy thing to see what suited the logo and presto, I became just like everyone else.

If i search for new posts on the forum i can see the posts made in the challenge forum but can t go there cause it s saying that the topic does not exist.Maybe a fix for that?

g3org3 - yeah, I made my Max interface match AE 7's, too. It's an awesome color scheme. Works great here, too.
