why arn't you modeling his sex? there is nothing wrong and imature about it. in fact, all nude 3d characters look wrong without it, like if there was somthing wrong with the proportions. it's the same with drawing.
in my anatomy class, i always used to not draw that part, i felt it was immature, then my teacher told me about it. Since then, my drawings feel a lot more right in the proportions...
if you are going to model anatomy you might what to model all of it!
anyhow, looking good as for now, i'll keep an eye on this wip

Wow this is looking great! The fingers look a bit thin imo, for example...in the left render, the hand on the far right looks odd because the fingers are wirey.

great detail work but as tyson said the hands look weird because there overbend outwards...

Richard- thanks and i will definately take that into consideration.
nico- thank you
ivanisavich- good to hear from you, love your work. and i agree that the fingers are wirey. will post an update soon.
diemacht- thanks i recently bent the fingers but haven't fleshed them out yet.
My question to you is if i do decide to model the man parts...will that affect the clothes im going to put on him in this next week? And also what is a good way to model clothes? (haven't done that yet)

I don't think there's any reason to model anything you're planning on covering up, unless you're planning on doing any kind of cloth sim or something.
The front of the knees look a little weird to me. It'd be nice to see a closeup of the face, from what I can see his nose looks a little pointy.
And I think the animal should be an elephant

claymation- thanks and i agree that you don't need to sculpt if clothes cover it.
bcolbourn- i do need more practice but for this piece im going to figure out the forms and get to the accessories.
here's a small update. changed the knee and the proportion of the lower leg. also shrunk down the arms and waist, he was too bulky i thought. the foot and hands both need work but if im puting gloves and boots on do i need them??? haven't done any work on the face really but will while I'm dressing him. Not entirely sure what i want him to look like but he will be an assassin type character.

Nice...although I think the face is the weakest part, imo. The lips are hurting it the most, I think. They're kinda chunky and seem to protrude from the face in an odd way...otherwise I think the body is looking great! The fingers look much better now.

mahmoudnahmad- thanks, I've decided not to model the penis because he'll be wearing clothes. though i do think it would be an appropriate exercise.
rrateme95- thank you
ivanisavich- Thank you and as far as the face goes i haven't really spent any time on it.
small update, just re proportioned the elf making him more lean and elf like in my opinion. hands and face still need to be addressed. thanks all for the posts! its nice to be part of this community. redrum and i were talking at school about how great this forum is and how everyone is so helpful. so thanks

Hey that looks much better! Seems like you're starting to get a feel for what you really want the character to be. The lips look much better now, more defined. The corners could still use a little bit of work I think, though.
Where the ears meet the head on top looks odd. And he looks like he has elephantitis of the feet
. But yeah, he's really starting to have a personality now I think.
Keep it up!

claymation- thanks for the crits! Youre absolutely right tht the face and feet need work
Did some more work her and there over the last few days. changed the stance a little and shoulder anatomy. Sculpted the rib cage so that lungs could actually fit in there. changed his face to have more of an animalistic quality. my idea is that he's born in the woods with this race of elves. They've been evolving into a more instinctual creature.

Oh nice! Looking at your first image, and now this last one, that's some sweet progress!
The area beneath his belly button looks very plain. Also, there's some weird ring around the bottom center of his nose.
Can't wait to see some clothes on him!

It is incredible to see this progressing. Top notch work!
You're going into a crazy amount of detail here.
I'm just trying to think whether or not the amount of wrinkles
and their depth are giving it "Scuplter's Overload" and pushing it too far.
-
rrateme95 262 posts
now that is one good update, only crit is I agree with Cam on the sculpters overload thing, but it kinda depends on what your trying to achieve, like if your trying to get an old elf that would work really well, but if you wanted it to look masculine, the wrinkles wont go too well with it

mahmoudnahmad- thanks? haha
Cameron- thanks for the crit, is it too much?
rrateme95- thank you for the crit, i don't want him to look too old
here's an update changed the intensity on the lip and lobe of the ear. also took some of the detail out of the neck.
better??? thanks for all the help guys!

great amazing results your pulling here, i will put my head into the sand out of shame ^_^.
by the way maybe left up his shoulders a bit, assuming hes a big muscle elf dude.
