It's no way near complete, but this is a still from an angle of an animated opening sequence for a project I've recently just started:
There will be a fly-through a valley, where the 'Dungeons & Dragons' text will appear on-screen, after which a dragon will swoop down and burn out the text, in it's wake will be the new text 'Journeys Of The Realm'.
This'll mean more to me and Hype, but I'd like to get a few helpful words!

well right now the terrain seems pretty darn flat in places. maybe you should try using a displacement map to generate the terrain?

The terrain is supposed to be rather flat, but like I said, it's no way near complete. I've got the hovering boulders to put in later and I'll be adding other details, plus I gotta get my sun right!

keep up the good working i am looking forward to how it ends up

I've tweaked things a little bit here, still a little flat in places, but I sorted out some more features, the last one looked like it had an ocean in the background... still trying to get the right terrain texture tho:

whats with the stretched texture mountains and the shadows are way to much i think

More features, less shadowy, and different texture, but the surface looks a bit plastic, so I'll tweak my fractal/etc settings when I'm through getting the layout to resemble what I need:

are you turning your manga into a 3d manga or 3d animation of some sort?
not only glossy removal on them, but try to also texturise the broken bits and give it bump and displacement maps.

Hey Zentron!
This is cool! Back when I did my short movie, I was really excited about putting some of the floating rock islands in the sky in the background, but I didn't get a chance to because of the deadline for getting it onto the dvd set!
This is looking pretty cool, but I do agree with mahmoudnahmad, that stretching on the sides of the mountains is very distracting. What are you working in? And yeah, some of those plateaus look really flat. But this is definitely cool, and if you're not going for photorealism, I certainly think you've captured the feel of the cartoon. The yellow sky is great, and the atmospheric haze in the far background looks really good.

Two new flying rocks (one can't be seen unfortunately), 8 new hills, 3 more canyon/valley extensions, ground surface bumps and a new texture... which still sucks a tad though!

Its looking really good only crit is that maybe there should be some sand around the botto0m of the cliffs otherwise the scene looks too tidy...but its lookin great so far

Right, I've altered the light direction and the shadows fall much more starkly, but not too much:

it took a while longer than I was hoping to edit the text, but the 3D on-screen title is almost complete... just need to find the right surface colours/effects!

Nice, Zentron! Looks like you used that feature in bryce that extrudes a B&W image out into geometry. Looks good, except for the little TM.

Things were getting a bit too cluttered in my original file, so I took the hard decision to start again from scratch... but it appears to have been the right choice. Take a look

MUCH better! You've got detail in the shadows now! Definitely a huge step! Looks good!

I agree much better, good job

It's also much closer to my original vision too!! Still not the right texture, but I'm sure I'll work it out
*EDIT*
Well, I re-did the text, the TM now looks perfect:

one thing i think its lacking is shadow depth. a simple AO pass would add alot to this image perhaps.

Been a while since I posted anything regarding my project, but I has been busy, plus my PC died, so I had to rebuild and I've not reinstalled Bryce yet. Saying that, whilst this is not in 3D, it is related to this project...
Yup, I know, it's just the title of D&D... but that's not what is important, what is important, is that this was not done using a jpg and just layered over a gradient in Photoshop, this was done with a lot of hard work over the last couple of months..... I created the font-style from scratch, using the title shot as reference of course! Though I didn't just stop at the letters you see here, I went the whole hog and did every single letter! Obviously stilll needs a little tweaking, but it shows enough, though once finished, I can use the new font and type out the title, without having extrude that jpg image that I was using the last few pics and be able to create the sequence that I imagined!
**EDIT**
Right, this is probably the best I'm going to get it, I'm still certain there is some more tweaking to do, but it seems fine as is!
Here is the updated version:
