Crack - A VFX Test

triplej96 181 posts15 Mar 2010A test using Cinema 4D, xplode plugin, After Effects and SynthEyes. The effect relies heavily on 3d tracking and projection mapping. Shot on the RED. I'm doing some proof of concepts for a possible up and coming feature film shot in the Midwest that I might be doing VFX on. This particular shot was more of testing out a theory to see if it worked and it did.

15 Mar 2010as a POC i dont know how detailed it has to be but i would say that there would be a bit more dust and finer parts and little stones and whatnot.
the only thing that bothered me is the hard deepblack shadow on the edge.
the perspective, the tracking and animation works perfectly fine. -

Yes, you are absolutely right. about dust and little stones etc. You are certainly right about the hard deepblack shadow on the edge. I probably should fix even for the POC. I will try and fix the deep black shadows this evening. With that said I have some other tests to do as well.

16 Mar 2010looks better but instead of plain dark shadows try implementing a bit texture from the road. its made with RED right so take 1 frame and use the road as a texture make it darker and give it as a texture map (only the side) to the crack pieces.
