as some of you might know i started animation mentor about 3 month ago. It's been a while since i have been active here, so i though it would be a nice way to start by posting my progress as i go...
here is this week's assignment (just blocking)

Claymation 600 posts19 Jan 2010That's nice, Rich! I like it! A couple little things:
- At no point does he not have at least 1 foot completely flat. I would think that he'd be on his toes or his heels a little bit more, and possibly even a moment where he has both feet in the air.
- Will the left chair be rocking back and forth at all? -

03 Feb 2010looks awesome rich, the only rthing that caught my eye was the first time he touches the other chair, it moves real fast, ameks it seem like the chari is very light and not much weight to it.

23 Feb 2010Richard I didn't know you attended AM, thats freaking AWESOME!! I actually graduated from there this past summer of 09. Wonderful experience and an amazing environment! And your progress is looking fantastic by the way. Really nice mechanics going on in both stewie and ballie clips. I'm subscribing to this and I'll leave you some feedback whenever I get a chance

01 May 2010Oooh Nice Rich. The acting piece
One slight comment on that would be after the second 'bleep' follow the arc on the eyes... head goes up then turns screen right, making a very linear turn. The character looks really natural to begin with, very nice indeed, though I feel like it loses a little weight as he slaps the monitor. The dynamics are there, and there's a nice breakdown with the head leading - but the head seems to bang to a sudden stop (as does the chest and his left arm).
Only other crits would be perhaps to show a little more of a change of expression on the second beat - like, show the thought process before he slaps the monitor.

01 May 2010I quite like his expression when he hits the monitor but maybe hold the look another half second before hitting it. I feel like I totally relate to the way he hits it since when you do something irrational like that you're not really thinking, "I'm going to hit this!" it's just like "STUPID THING! BAM!".
