Digital Camera Recommendations?

10 Jan 2006Hey guys and gals, for Christmas i got some money to get meself a decnet Digital Camera, i got ?500-600 to get one with, im looking for a Digital SLR (i think!) and i've come across the Canon EOS 350D, which i think is pretty neat. Does anyone know of any other camera's that they would recommend in this price range? If it's got some cool features, and has a massive Megapixel count, then it does'nt have to an SLR one, but im familiar with these, so i think i'd be best with them.

17 Jan 2006i used to have the sony dhc h1 but went i got it, it had been out for a month only so it was full of bug , i mean i had to return it to the shop 3 times... now i know it is working properly, sony fixed all these small errors.
i have the Sony DSC-P200, i just love that camera, i mean you can do so many things with it it's incredible, i would actualy for this one instead of the dhc h1
or if you really wanna go for quality , i would gor for that one:Canon PowerShot S2 IS... it is the first camera that can even focus on the dirt of the lens in macro mode... i would deffinatly got that one, but i didn't have enought money.... as tony said go check them on http://www.dpreview.com/, i used that website to get mi camer (to chose it then i bought it in a shop)
on thing, i would not get a Fujifilm one because the menus are really complicated to use.... i love the sony menus, they are nice and it's great if you want to change a setting very quickly... personaly as i said, i have the sony DSC p200 and you can set so many differant things with it... it's crazy. have a look for example at these pics i took with it http://www.richardadenot.com/pic.htm
i would either go for the Canon PowerShot S2 IS or the sony DSC p200 (that camera really lloks like a tourist camera but it isn't, its just like a angel stock in a trash can....

The S2 version i would recomend for a point and shoot, such an excelent camera and got the best reviews in all the magazines i read. I seen it go in the 100-200 quid area thats about 300 dollars i think.
If not, i use a Sony Cybershot the old 5MP version looks like this http://www.atpm.com/9.09/images/cybershot.gif , this used to kick out amazing shots up until i got my Nikon F75 and D100 when they took over

Go with Coolpix m8 if you havent already got one, though the time it took for me to reply you could of probally won the lottery and bought all the Mark II and Hasselblad H2 you could possibly own (for the note Hassleblad im on about goes for about 25,000 dollars, 39mp version).

10 Mar 2006I know the 350D Canon is a beast!!! I really would like to got one, by it's more than 1000$ can, and cheaper are 250$, so maybe later. But this camera is more like a manual camera (a good point for me), you zoom with the lens instead of a numeric button. any worth a look. But if you want to record small video, this camera can't

10 Mar 2006350D 1000$ ? Thats a hell of alot for a 350D, you should be paying them sorta prices for Cannon 30D in stores around me you can pick A 350D up for 400-600.
If hes after Digital SLR's and is willing to spend up to 500 or more he could get himself one of these
Nikon D50
Nikon D70
Nikon D100
Cannon EOS 350D
Cannon EOS 20D
I would recommend the D50 as all the others have alot more complex layouts, on the D50 everything is simple and easy. My D100 i have to go through various different procedures but im getting better and eventually will master my camera. The Cannons are nice but i dont think cannons feel like cameras they dont have enough wieght to them as Nikon do. -

04 Jul 2006by all means the best prosumer deal for a camera right now is the digital Rebel xt from canon. Get that and like a tamron lens with some good range, and you'll be happy you did.
I proomise. I use a Canon 10D right now and it is good but to be honest, I wouldn't mind an extra few mega-pixels, but what can I say? I am spoiled.

31 Jul 2006i've got the 350D and love it, but if you have large hand you may find it hard to handle, i find the size perfect due to the fact that its lightweight and easy to carry around so the size issue swing both ways
otherwise look for the Nikon D50 or D70 there are only these 3 dslr bodies to look at.
and then you can buy your self poor from lenses.
