Going 64 Bit

28 Oct 2008well I'm finally buiding my 64 bit duel core x2 new workstaion. Just want to here all the tips you guys have for me. Like software issues., and stuff. Should I go with vista 64 or XP 64?. And how about that adobe stuff? how that with 64 bit and all.
I figure this is a go to place to get all my info.

29 Oct 2008ok ill use vista at work and xp 64 at home and used vista 64 at my other pc at home and i just can say
XP64 RAWKS!! everything works fine adobe products have no problems (none that i have experienced or heared from my friends that use xp64 too)
vista and max are not very good together max has some serios issues with vista (viewpoint errors, dialogs dissapearing, help file errors).

vista has some serios performance issues its good for gaming though (dx10 and stuff)
performance issues like you click on "my documents" and wait 2 minuts that it responds (and this is a quad core with 4 gigi ram and 3870 x2 with crossfire)
and its a new installed one. the indexing slows the pc veerry much and even if you disable it it never does stop so you hear your hdd crunching while you do nothing on your pc.
ok thats all i can recall right now but i know that i had other issues but i cant remeember them but ill keep it updated. -
mahmoudnahmad 1,159 posts30 Oct 2008windows 64bit quad core amd style i think is the best choice here, cs4 adobe i think included even better support for 64bit preformance, never tried any 64 os yet but would like to hear about the preformance increase -
30 Oct 2008Oh i had so much trouble with vista x64 that i am glad that ive switched to XP x64. Man that vista...
The only good thing about vista: Max 2009 works better on Vista. And thats all.

02 Nov 2008Thanks guys.............Yeah I been reading up on this and everyone has said the same thing..stay away from vista 64 and max. I'm sticking with xp/64 sp3. My motherboard should be here in a day or so................. going to be sweet to be able to go up to 16 gb of ram ( i only have 6 right now) but thats going to make fume fx rock.............Thanks again

02 Nov 2008I dont think that there is SP3 for XP x64. I have SP2.

04 Nov 2008You probably think of Windows server 2008 but its in making progress. XP x64 with SP2 IS Windows Server 2003

rrateme95 262 posts06 Nov 2008I recommend xp 64 bit im on xp 64bit and it works great but before it was vista and it was slow like a fat pig compared to now, definitely XP -
29 Nov 2008Anybody get flash to work on xp64 yet? I'm doing my new web page and wanted to use flash.......mite have to use a duel boot.32/64??

or iexplorer 32 bit
or opera
or smt

30 Nov 2008dowmloaded ex 7 and all is good.........I did start up my 32 bit browser it would not work.....doesent matter..all is cool.thank you
