Ctrl+alt+delete, and look in your task manager tab under performance, if theres only one bo to the right of the one ofn the left, you have one proc, and tif you have two then you have duals.

Sorry for the confusion man, yeah, that's a dual proc. If you see the two windows on the top right, those are your processors.

ok then whyi would my multiprocessing window greyed out?
its werid cause ever since AE CS3 it runs and renders slower
are there any general fixes for this?
oh and btw i have 2 gigs of RAM

Hey, you might have a single-core processor with hyperthreading, in which case it shows up as two processors in the Task Manager, but won't count (I don't think) in AE's eyes as two separate procs.
Right click on "My Computer" and click on "Properties". Let us know what it says at the bottom of the pop-up. Mine says:
"Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz"
So, I have a hyperthreaded processor, but AE only recognises it as one, like you.

slow down issues in adobe cs3 suite
1-vista (i had vista reverted back to xp THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE go back to xp sp2 pro)
2-adobe suite cs3 generally uses more ram 1gb minimum recommended which means 1gb is just for running the software (get maybe 4 gb machine)
3-check your disk space recommended not more than 70% of your main hard disk to be filled.
if your using vista and adobe cs3 suit then your eating up 2gb already running those 2 so work flow will get decreased a lot
if your on xp just increase your ram to 4gb and make sure windows is running full duel processors and 4gb of ram:
*.go to run and type msconfig
*.then under the boot.ini tab click on advance
*.check both max ram and processors use max (usually 2 unless your quad core)
*.2048 is max ram if you have 2gb ram (just in case you don't know how to convert cause boot.ini needs mb's not gb's.
*.if not sure of your computer specs go to run and type dxdiag (direct x diagnostics) all your specs should show up and if you want to check display card specs you simply click the display tab
AGAIN I SUGGEST EVERYONE INVEST IN GRIDIRON Nucleo 2 PRO approx.400$ will sort most of the after effect rendering problems (not problems just it enhances your work flow)
tell me if this helps if not i will just have to make a video tutorial for the best setting for after effects (in my opinion)

This is very revealing info you gave there Mahmoudnahmad that leads to a better understanding.
You seem to have much knowledge of the computers heart. I'll keep the Nucleo 2 PRO in consideration.
Thank you for the info man.
