working with adjustment layers

kk01 12 posts07 Aug 2008using an adjustment layer means that anything under that layer gets effected...now if I need another adjustment layer above some layers over the 1st adjustment layer means everything underneath, even the 1st adjustment layer gets effected...
I am begining to ask myself...is there any way to avoid this or can photoshop comp layer in such way that the comp'ed layers can be dealt with seperately...

07 Aug 2008The only other thing you can do is when you are creating the adjustment layer, you can hold down alt and then click the create adjustment layer button and this will offer you the option to link the adjustment layer to the current layer. It will also create a layer mask which allows you to only affect the areas that you paint into the mask.

mahmoudnahmad 1,159 posts07 Aug 2008i never tried it but try this, you have top layer example blur adjustment layer but you want to blur only the first three layers in the comp, so create an empty adjustment layer after the third layer and see if that works. just guessing logical stuff (don't hate me if doesn't work) -

15 Aug 2008If I remember right you can alt click the adjustment layers at any time (not just on creation) then drag connect them to the layer you want (the mouse icon changes to the 'link' symbol)
