Wow, that's nice! Reminds me of some of the smashing pumpkins cd art. The background I think could use something, if anything. The branches suggest that they're fairly close to the ground, but the background suggests that they're high up in the sky.
Also maybe some more of the little bugs farther away near the other, characters, in the back.
It's kinda hard for me to think of things to add, so that must mean you're really close. I really like this!

I dunno if I'm a fan of the burn tool. Maybe its just too dark for my liking, but I like the feel you are attempting.
I would suggest painting it while dropping the flow, see how that turns out.

well, I didn't actually use the burn tool at all, just the smudge one, but ya, I think I'll change the background a bit more and make it lighter.

God, why are you using imageready? It's primarily for animation and web prep...

I am using image ready simply because my Photoshop decided a while back that it would never run again

Sounds like you might be on a mac. Not that that's the problem, I've seen that happen once or twice. The only way I've ever been able to fix that is to uninstall most of your fringe programs, and if that doesn't work, then just reformat, And with a mac, it's not bad, because you can do an archive and install. Takes about 15 minutes. If you're on a pc, yikes. Try to re-install photoshop?
I do like the picture man, i'd love to see it animated, I feel like it was done in the style of an old japanese tapestry, painted with octopus ink with a horsehair brush on some ragged cotton. Really cool feel you've got going. Love the depth, and direction it's going.

Well, I do not have a mac, nor do I know much about computers period. That "fringe" talk made no sense to me. But thanks for trying to help and all the pro's. You can see more of my stuff at terryibele.com if you wish,
