I have a roblem smoothing geometry parented in a heirarchy. Smooth in Maya will smooth the children but not the parent. Is there a work around? Everything is parented in a rig and I do not have the time to rebuild just for this issue.

try selecting the specific faces on the mesh in question and smoothing that way

select the parent, and hit the down arrow, that'll make it so that only the parent's shape is selected

Sweet!!! the hitting down worked great. thanks man. I knew that would allow me to move down the hierarchy but i didn't think it would allow me to just select the parent like that.
