It has been quite a few years since I had done any 3D modelling, but this semester at school we are taking a 3D class. I have experience with 3ds Max, but this class we are using Maya.
I am getting pretty used to the Maya interface and find it a very powerful tool. I am just looking to see if anyone of you have any good resources for Materials/Rendering in Maya. In the class we are using Maya 2008, so I would prefer to use mental ray within maya, and we unfortunately do not have access to other rendering engines. The reason I am asking is I am having a bit of a problem learning how to use the Hypershade in Maya since I am so familiar to they was 3ds Max handles materials.
I am looking for more quality tutorials and have searched google but I really only found simple tutorials that aren't quite what I am looking for. So I assume you guys will have some good resources bookmarked that you can share with me.
Also, don't forget youtube and vimeo...you'd be amazed at the number of video tutorials people upload there!

3dbuzz.com is quite amazing. I am surprised that I did not have it bookmarked from before. I never even thought about looking at Vimeo or Youtube.
