What i realized today is, that we don't know each other then our common passion for being lets say creatively active.
I know from here and there for example that Master T. likes to go to the gym and that he lives in New Zealand and works for make but thats about it.
What i am trying to say is WHO are you in real life. What are your hobbies your passions your dislikes?
Maybe most of you enjoy exactly this anonymity the Internet gives one but since i just noticed that i am between your guys 4 years now (in 5 weeks actually)! and that i have almost a thousand posts. This makes this forum maybe not the longest of my memberships but by far the most active one. So i guess since we "know" each other for 4 years i guess we can skip the foreplay

So what do you do except for being getting a nice amount of radiation off your screen?

I enjoy playing video games i could define myself as a "hardcore gamer" who thinks console involvement dumbs them down (even if it has to be because of the control and key limits)
I like riding bikes of every type. That includes normal bicycles and i drove a serious amount of motorcycle without a proper license back when i was living in Turkey here in Germany things are a bit different though
I like to play drums and guitar im in no way a pro i just enjoy it. I seriously even doubt that i could play in a b class punk band properly
Jazz, Rock n Roll, Metal, Trash Metal, Funk, sometimes drum'n bass and all kinds of other hearth vibrating music can emit from my headphones.
I like to read but have to admit that i didn't put enough time on that one lately.
Movies are a big hobby (even cheesy ones ) have a quite good dvd collection of over 200 movies.
I love all kinds of gadgets. I own a PSP and use it mostly for e-books and music and movies especially on long train rides.

I guess on top of that I'm a film buff and my desire is to create short films. I've got 3 "in progress" at the moment, but I've taken a break from working on them for a while.

I live in Los Angeles, California...originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. When I'm not writing epic scripts and trying my damnedest to make something cool in Maya...I enjoy surfing, skateboarding, singing, and drinking good beer! I love music. I'm a huge power metal buff and use to run a website called http://www.swordmetal.com. It's still there but it's sort of abandoned lately since I have a proper job and no time to run it. It's cool though because it enabled me to meet a lot of bands and go to concerts for free when they're in town.

I really enjoy traveling and recently returned from a three month trip to Europe where I met several SCG peeps. In fact, I think I'm coming up on the record for meeting the most forum members. =)

Lastly, I'm a Reddit addict.

i love to surf too but its almost impossible to do in Germany
back when i was in highschool in Antalya i used to surf often since its like 300 days of clear sunny sky and temperatures over 25 degree Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit)

I work in the video game industry as a technical artist, my wife and I are expected our first child soon, he is due in May.

Mainly work in things related to real-time rendering, but enjoy working with offline render stuff as well, but have much more to learn!

Old Man Global is old... so I'll try and keep things short and sweet otherwise we'll be here all day!

I was born in north London (way back... when the hills themselves were young) and spent most of the next few years dribbling contentedly while sitting in my own poop. After a brief spell at nursery I experienced a huge learning curve and discovered a little more of what life had to offer (Like milk... and what it's like to not sit in your own poop). I found growing up was pretty painless (apart from a period of angst where it was expected to grow your hair long, listen to loud music and talk about the problems of society in a haze of marijuana smoke.)

For me school was pretty good, though I left at 18 with a sense of not really knowing what I wanted to do with my life so I decided to take some time out and go see the world. The adventurous spirit didn't die after the first trip so I spent a lot of time getting jobs to fund trips overseas (I've been a bookseller, a stable hand, a foot care specialist, a carer of the elderly, and an AV technician). It took me a while to realise that these jobs were not getting me any closer to my dream of working in film (for many years I didn't know what I wanted to do... I just knew I wanted to be a part of the film making process).

Yaaarg... this is not keeping things short and sweet! So I'll try and trim... I quit my job as an AV technician (it was my first flirting with camera work and film equipment but a real dead end job) and decided to teach myself CG. I came to Thailand because it was a cheap place to live and I could fund myself being out of work for a year while teaching myself modeling, lighting and rendering (which is where I thought my interests lie) About 6 months in however, I had an epiphany and realised it was animation not lighting that I loved. I had always been inspired by Jim Henson puppets, loved animatronics etc and from an early age I wanted to go into that (but had never pursued it)

Anyways... coming to Thailand was the best decision I've made. It was meant to be for only a year... that was about 6 years ago. I've been working at a studio for quite some time now and have had some great opportunities while doing so. Animation has been fun, but it's lead me on to things like voice acting and script writing too. Oh, and I realised the childhood dream of working in film.

But perhaps the best reason for having come here is...



... yeah, I've not been posting here for some time now. Life really did get busy for me. I spend a lot of time (physically) and effort (mentally) at work, so when I'm not working I want to spend time with my wife

i can understand why you want to spend you time with your wife
as i have a girlfriend of 6 years which i want to take as my wife hopefully within the next year or so .

the most time i spend here is in between 5 minutes test render times. (which i have at least 5-6 times a day).

not to criticize you or anything global but i just realized again that time is the only thing we probably have the most control of. we take the portion of time we have in a day and distribute it between the things we like.
a lot of people say that they have never "time" for anything. I in particular say that a lot when i wanted to do something but couldnt.
but the only reason is that i probably diddnt wanted it enough,since i diddnt put any time on it.
It can happen that the time at hand just isnt enough which happens with the people when they start to work and get in serious (and beautiful ) relationships.
so instead of making everything half hearted you just skip some things and concentrate on the rest.

i forgot what my point was at the beginning i wanted to get....so im just gonna leave it like this...

Born and raised in Savage Minnesota. Lived in MN my whole life and love it. Not that I would be opposed to moving somewhere else I just dig it.

Currently working at hybrid medical animation and love it. Have flip flopped all over the twin cities at different jobs here and there and feel like I have found someplace I can call home.

When not working on 3d stuff (which I, regrettably, find to be more the case in my free time) I enjoy all sorts of stuff. From just hanging out with the wife and enjoying a beer to going fishing and hunting and traveling. I love to travel. I wish I could travel more. My last trip took me to new york and up into canada on a cruse. Cruses are awesome, by the way. I recommend them.

I love fishing. I wish I could go more but It is a big calmer and centerer for me... is that a word? Probably one of the reasons I like MN so much is our abundant source of fishing goodness. Like I said hunting is also a big fun time for me. Not so much for the kill but getting out into nature and its quite relaxing. Good bonding time with my dad and several of my long time friends.

I also enjoy the hell out of video games and movies. My wife and I try to keep one date night a week at least where we usually do dinner and a movie (so we see lots of movies) but I have been doing that for years.

I dabble in guitar and rocked out with my saxophone for many years but have not played it in quite a few.

I think that sums stuff up a bit.
