17 Oct 2006Well just been given my first assignment and its to model a fish, everyone in my class seems to be following the same crappy blueprints the tutor gave us, but i asked him if i could do my own and he said he would love to see somone be original, so i designed my own fishy
. Hes called Dave, be nice to him.
Well heres the concept, (didnt show begining sketches as i cant draw for shit)
And ive started to model him in 3dsmax, only done a little work, and decided to show these on scanline render.
Needs alot more work to be done on modeling -

Seeing as though i got alot of people saying he looks like a shark i became attracted to that idea (even tho he wasnt ment to be). I looked at sharks a little and loved the colour (shade) scheme they have and decided to use it on my fish.
Above is a wip quick brushon through photoshop to see what he would look like with them colours, whatya think?
The eyes are slits atm because ive modeled eye lids for expression purposes in later animation when i rig this fella. -
23 Oct 2006Heh, looking good Aden! I'd have a play around with the colours though, maybe come up with various ideas and try them out in an environment background - a blue shark in blue water may be a little tough to get right
Hey don't fish also have small fins at the back, near the tail? -
