Heh, yeah, like I said, still trying to get the right texture! As for the shadows, that's just how they fallmahmoudnahmad Wrote:whats with the stretched texture mountains and the shadows are way to much i think
I'm working in Bryce 6. The plateaus are meant to be rather flat, just like they were in the opening sequence, but I am working on some more features. Though I don't really need it to be perfect, as this is going to just fly by in about 15 seconds, I just need a long enough canyon/valley, with enough background hills as are necessary.... plus I am definitely not going for photo realistic, my aim was truly to come close to the cartoon, but in 3D!!hype Wrote:Hey Zentron!
This is cool! Back when I did my short movie, I was really excited about putting some of the floating rock islands in the sky in the background, but I didn't get a chance to because of the deadline for getting it onto the dvd set!
This is looking pretty cool, but I do agree with mahmoudnahmad, that stretching on the sides of the mountains is very distracting. What are you working in? And yeah, some of those plateaus look really flat. But this is definitely cool, and if you're not going for photorealism, I certainly think you've captured the feel of the cartoon. The yellow sky is great, and the atmospheric haze in the far background looks really good.
I'm almost to a point where I can start animating, or at least plotting out the path the camera will take. This is the latest pic, a few more hills in the background, some more hovering rocks and then I'm away:rrateme95 Wrote:Its looking really good only crit is that maybe there should be some sand around the botto0m of the cliffs otherwise the scene looks too tidy...but its lookin great so far
Heh, yeah, the light source is rather skewy in these pics, mostly as I have not sorted it out properly yet, it's still in its default setting! Also, it is supposed to be somewhat bright, the whole show was, which is what I am going to try to capture as best I can. Plus, I don't really need to worry 100% about this scene, as I mentioned before, it'll all be going past quickly and then you'll be distracted from the BG by the title text and the dragon that'll burn it off the screen in replacement of more text, which after, the scene will fade out! It'll all be over in a flash!karnage Wrote:Looking cool... I'd say it looks a bit too bright all around. I know you reduced the shadows from previous versions but it seems like it is lacking some ground shadows in the foreground, which will give it a lot more depth. I'm also a little confused about what angle your main light sources is coming from if the sun is setting in the background but the rock in the foreground on the left side is casting its shadow toward where the sun is supposed to be. Just the lack of shadows is making the whole thing look a little flat overall. Keep up the good work!
Hmm, I do agree, but it's too dark for how I need it. I guess I can make it, halfway between, see what it looks like! I'll have to see how my dragon will stand out... or blend in; and choose!hype Wrote:looking good, Zentron! I took another look at the very first pic you posted, and while this latest image is definitely better, the really contrasty shadows in that first image are really cool, and make it super dramatic.
.....yeeeahhh, I did notice the little TM looked a bit sucky, I might get a better result if I made it a little bigger! I'll try it when I finished drawing my version of Superman, for a later showing!hype Wrote:Nice, Zentron! Looks like you used that feature in bryce that extrudes a B&W image out into geometry. Looks good, except for the little TM.
True, but at this time, it's a technical detail, one that can be left until I have finished building the landscape.BColbourn Wrote:one thing i think its lacking is shadow depth. a simple AO pass would add a lot to this image perhaps.
The good thing is, with the old build, I had a lot of distant hills to produce in order to create a convincing landscape, but this one, I only have a narrow canyon to worry about, with little work to be done over the edge. All making this much easy to render!diemacht Wrote:wow the redo totally was the right decision!!
